The F. Mochi school is placed in the municipalities of Montevarchi and Laterina, but it has an extensive area that covers over the municipalities of Bucine, Pergine Valdarno and Civitella in Val di Chiana. Thanks to the special geographical position that puts the schools near Florence, Arezzo and Siena, and to the good landlines too, the area has seen an increase of foreign families in recent years, mainly as a result of family reunification process. Our school has therefore engaged in accommodating new requirements through cultural and educational projects that promote integration and give value to intercultural differences.
The F. Mochi school was founded by resolution of the Regional Council of March in 1999, which has aggregated four complexes of kindergarten, four complexes of primary school and three complexes of Secondary School First Grade of Levane, Laterina and Ponticino, for a total of about 1100 students. The complexes differ in size and are located in a quite large area with a resident population of about 10,000 inhabitants, but substantially homogeneous in socio-economic and cultural terms. Since 2012, the school has brought on an innovative project Languages for school and intercultural and multilingual curriculum. The project is encouraged by the Italian education ministry in order to promote the educational policies from the European council.
