What is the…value of multilingualism? How can schools develop their practices around highlighting the benefits of different languages within a context? The VALUE project aims at developing and adapting a toolkit and resources for adding value to multilingualism in school education. The European schools must be ready to take advantage of the richness of migrant students’ languages.
VALUE is a two-year project (2015-2017) and is funded by the European Commission. The 5 partners have gathered in Florence, in December 2015, to kick off the project and organize the tasks. The consortium will work on identifying and analyzing the needs in the partner countries in order to define the nature of the curriculum. The curriculum will include digital storytelling and materials, resources and activities for supporting multilingualism in schools. The curriculum and will be hosted at the project’s website, which was created by CARDET.
The kick off meeting has been very productive and all partners were pleased by the work and outcomes. We are all looking forward to our next meeting and of course, to a great project!
